NLHPP Contractors to begin remobilising teams for safe working onsite

North London Waste Authority has today announced its Contractors, Buckingham Group Contracting and Galldris Construction Ltd, are remobilising construction teams for the preparatory works on the North London Heat and Power Project. Teams are working rapidly to implement robust plans that will allow construction to restart safely on the sites.

Construction was paused on all construction sites in March to ensure that working arrangements for protection of the workforce would comply with guidance from the Construction Leadership Council and Public Health England. Over the intervening period safe systems of work have been developed; for example, to ensure safe social distancing can be applied, by modifying workforce welfare arrangements, and by adopting safe travel plans, allowing for construction to restart safely.

Other elements of the NLHPP delivery programme have embraced digital solutions to continue vital work on the project, including a Market Information Webinar for the ERF procurement and tendering for the EcoPark South Construction Contract.

Programme Director David Cullen said “Since construction started over a year ago we’ve made significant progress on site. Although construction works have been paused temporarily to protect the workforce from COVID-19, we’ve worked innovatively off-site to ensure vital procurement activity continues.  We’re now ready for the safe and rapid remobilisation of construction works on this vital asset for north London”

As plans progress more information about remobilisation and safety procedures will be available on the website northlondonheatandpower.london.
